De nombreuses thématiques de recherches sont traitées au sein des deux équipe de recherche de  l’Observatoire astronomique de Strasbourg: physique stellaire, objets compacts et trous noirs, et leur environnement extrême, milieu-interstellaire, galaxies proches, y compris la Voie Lactée, évolution des galaxies,  cosmologie et réionisation de l’Univers.
