« A transformative era for studying dynamics of galaxy disks: insights from ALMA and JWST »

ALMA and JWST are at the forefront of a transformative era in our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. Their unprecedented angular resolution enables a multi-phase view of the interstellar medium and the spatial distribution of stars, while providing new leverage to trace how the kinematics and dynamics of star-forming galaxies evolve across cosmic time. In this talk, I will highlight recent high-resolution ALMA and JWST results that are reshaping our picture of the physical processes governing galaxy disks. These observations challenge key assumptions in current models, motivate revisions to our theoretical framework, and also offer new insight into how the Milky Way’s formation history compares with that of other disk galaxies.
