« Exploring the Epoch of Reionization with Scattering Transforms »
Scattering transforms have proven to be a powerful statistical tool for characterizing non-Gaussian processes across various astrophysical contexts. In this presentation, we extend their application to the 21cm signal from the Epoch of Reionization (EoR), which presents unique challenges due to its three-dimensional nature, including a spectral axis that contains the signal’s redshift evolution. We adapt scattering transforms to better capture the structure of these 3D EoR fields, highlighting their potential for improving parameter estimation and generative models of EoR fields for component separation.
