Early Career Researchers the Harbingers of Change: attitudes, behaviours and strategies regarding the changing world of scholarly communication
Abstract
This presentation is related to an international study informed by a 5-year-long qualitative longitudinal project, which sought to discover the scholarly communication attitudes and behaviour of early career researchers (ECRs) from France, China, Malaysia, Spain, Poland, UK and USA. Using a qualitative approach based on semi-directed interview, ECRs were questioned on their whole research cycle (searching, reading behaviour, publishing practices, data, social media..). Results showed that ECRs are adopting behaviours and strategies to cope with the changing world of scholarly communication. The talk will highlight and explain the specificities identified to French ECRs strategies.
