This relates to the porting of astronomical workflows on SSP (the SHIWA Simulations Platform) in the framework of the EU-funded project ER-flow. ER-flow officially started the last September 1st. The project aims at building an European Research Community to promote the workflow sharing and to investigate interoperability of the scientific data in workflow sharing. The project aims also at disseminating the achievements of the FP7 SHIWA project, particularly the coarse-grained workflow interoperability based on SSP (SHIWA Simulation Platform). In our opinion ER-flow represents an excellent opportunity to: 1) build new workflows or specialize pre-existing ones and tailor them on specific needs and requirements of single research groups or Institutions; 2) get support from the ER-flow project when building and porting workflows on SSP; 3) widely disseminate the results of the project within the whole astronomical community; 4) find a solution to the interoperability between computing and data e-Infrastructures. All this implies a significant improvement of the effectiveness of the scientific research, especially when end users need to deal with complex problems to solve and to get access to remarkable computing and data resources. In case of success, ER-flow would also imply a decisive step forward for a real and effective coordination of the European Astronomical Community for what concerns distributed computing and data e-Infrastructures. We thought therefore to propose you a meeting to be held at CDS in Strasbourg to collect information on possible workflows that you and your Institute could contribute and, if so, to agree a plan for the porting activities and for initiatives finalized to an effective dissemination of the results that will be achieved.
