Pan-STARRS and Gaia both had their Data Release 1 in the latter half of 2016. With photometry and astrometry of roughly 3 billion astronomical objects, the Pan-STARRS DR1 has substantial overlap with Gaia, but pushes significantly deeper in the red photometry bands. The Pan-STARRS DR1 provides photometry in 5 well-calibrated, well-defined bandpasses (grizy) astrometrically registered to the Gaia frame. I will discuss how the Pan-STARRS team has combined the two surveys to improve the calibration of the Pan-STARRS astrometry for DR1 and DR2. I will also discuss ways Gaia can benefit from Pan-STARRS as a photometric reference. I will finish by illustrating the astrometric capability of Pan-STARRS with examples from the local solar neighborhood.
