Besides its well-known services like SIMBAD and VizieR, a number of new services have
emerged in the recent years, like the cross-match service and CDS portal, but also more
recent ones which people might not be aware of, or familiar with. It can be difficult to cope
with new features being regularly added into existing services, and the development and
deployment of Virtual Observatory standards has had a profound impact on what can
be done, or how the CDS services can be used.

I will review a number of recent features and services available at CDS: Aladin desktop v10,
Aladin Lite, the use of HiPS and manipulation of all-sky data, using TAP queries or accessing
CDS services via Python…

I will save some time to demonstrate in practice how to answer a number of practical
questions, some new features in Aladin desktop, and how to manipulate large datasets
like the Gaia DR2 catalogue.
