Neutron stars are important tools used in physics, astronomy and even cosmology. Our knowledge of these objects is based mostly on the studies of pulsars and associated phenomena across the wide energy spectrum. I’ll review the observational status of these systems, with emphasis on the high-energy domain. I’ll then present the current status of the models of pulsar activity as well as their challenges.
