I will discuss various galactic dynamics problems related to our understanding of the formation and evolution of disc galaxies. The origin and properties of extended galactic discs and thick discs will be discussed. Finally, I will present a new method for modeling the chemo-dynamical evolution of galaxies. Focusing on the Milky Way, I will show that our model is consistent with nearly all currently available data and will outline a number of predictions for forthcoming large-scale spectroscopic surveys.
