“Star formation history in the solar neighbourhood from the evolution of X-ray emission of young stars”

Young stellar objects in the solar neighbourhood are direct tracers of recent star formation in our Galaxy.
This thesis investigates their spatial distribution and asks whether they share a common origin.
Young stars are highly active, so their X-ray excess separates most of them from the older field population.
I combined the X-ray photometry of eROSITA with the astrometry of Gaia and mapped more than 184 000 X-ray emitters with precise positions.
Part of this catalogue was then used to search for nearby clusters, for which I estimated the age from isochrone fitting of PARSEC V2 stellar evolution models.
I use these results to explore the evolution of the X-ray luminosity with stellar age, and to compare the position of the clusters with the Gould Belt.
