The Observatory has strong links with various local amateur astronomers associations.
Three associations are hosted at the Observatory :
- The French Association of Variable Stars Observers (Association Française des Observateurs d’Etoiles Variables – AFOEV), created in 1927 ;
- The Alsace Group of the French Astronomical Society (Société Astronomique de France Groupe Alsace – SAFGA) created in 1931 by the former Strasbourg Astronomical Observatory director André Danjon ;
- The Federation of Associations of Amateur Astronomers in Alsace (Fédération des Associations d’Astronomes Amateurs d’Alsace – F4A), created for the International Year of Astronomy in 2009.
